Privacy Policy
Last Updated: January 2025
Summary: We collect minimal data, don't track you, and don't sell your information. Your screenshots are stored anonymously.
Introduction
Nokeed ("we", "our", or "us") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.
By using our Chrome extension or website (nokeed.com), you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy.
Information We Collect
We collect minimal information necessary to provide our service:
Screenshots you upload:
- When you upload a screenshot, the image file is stored on our servers
- Screenshots are assigned a random code and are publicly accessible via their unique URL
- No account or personal information is required to upload
Technical information:
- IP address — used only for rate limiting and abuse prevention
- Upload timestamp — when the screenshot was uploaded
- Image dimensions and file size — for display purposes
What we do NOT collect:
- Personal identification information (name, email, etc.)
- Browsing history or activity outside our service
- Cookies for tracking or advertising purposes
- Any data from pages you visit (the extension only activates when you trigger it)
How We Use Your Information
We use the collected information to:
- Store and serve your uploaded screenshots
- Prevent abuse through rate limiting (100 uploads per hour per IP)
- Display screenshot information (dimensions, size, view count)
- Improve our service based on anonymous usage patterns
Data Storage & Retention
- Screenshots are stored indefinitely on our servers
- We aim to keep uploads available permanently, but we cannot guarantee perpetual storage
- We may remove content that violates our Terms of Service
- IP addresses in rate limit records are automatically cleared after one hour
Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or rent your information to third parties.
We may share data only in the following circumstances:
- Service providers: We use Cloudflare for security and CDN services. They may process your IP address according to their privacy policy.
- Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights.
Public Nature of Uploads
Important: All screenshots uploaded to Nokeed are publicly accessible via their unique URL. Anyone with the link can view the screenshot. Do not upload sensitive, private, or confidential information.
Chrome Extension Permissions
Our Chrome extension requests the following permissions:
- activeTab: To capture a screenshot of the current tab when you activate the extension
- storage: To temporarily store the captured image before editing
- clipboardWrite: To copy images and URLs to your clipboard
- downloads: To save screenshots to your computer
The extension only activates when you trigger it (keyboard shortcut or icon click). It does not run in the background or collect any data from your browsing.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Request deletion: Contact us to remove a specific screenshot you uploaded
- Access information: Ask what data we have associated with your IP address
- Opt out: Simply don't use our service — no account means no data to delete
Children's Privacy
Our service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has uploaded content, please contact us.
Security
We implement reasonable security measures to protect your data, including:
- HTTPS encryption for all connections
- Cloudflare protection against DDoS and malicious traffic
- Secure file storage outside the web-accessible directory
However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
